1. Around Lauwersmeer

Lauwersmeer lies on the border of the provinces of Groningen and Friesland and was created in 1969 by the damming of the Lauwers Sea. This motorbike ride takes you along the Wadden Sea with several beautiful vantage points over the mudflats. Your motorbike ride begins and ends at the Pyramid Hotel in Opende.

This route of over 150 kilometres starts in Drenthe and takes you to the province of Groningen via Noordlaren. There are a surprising number of winding roads around the city of Groningen and north of the city you can make a stop at the seal sanctuary in Pieterburen.

You couldn't feel further from home than with this route. The border area between Groningen and Germany offers motorcyclists peace and quiet and rugged nature. This route takes you past the Ter Apel monastery, the Bourtange fortress and the unique town of Bellingwolde. You will discover the beautiful nature around the Westerwoldse and the Ruiten Aa.

Café Hammingh in Garnwerd

This café is located on the Reitdiep, the waterway between the city of Groningen and Zoutkamp. Egbert Hammingh Sr. had the building constructed in 1876. On the terrace you can enjoy the view of cattle grazing on the dike and the ships sailing by on the Reitdiep.
